I love a good one-and-done outfit, especially on days when I can't be bothered to put a look together. For one, I don't own the trendiest clothing. And two, one of my friends has informed me that I'm not great with colors, so there's a good chance I'm pairing tops that don't even match with my chosen bottoms. So, it's safe to say I'm a big fan of dresses, rompers and jumpsuits.

The latter is a style I'm pretty find of, owning quite a few already. But I don't think it's possible to have too many jumpsuits, so when I got the opportunity to try this one from the editor-loved brand, PrettyGarden, I jumped at the chance.

Why I tried the PrettyGarden jumpsuit

My wardrobe is filled with old pieces that I've grown tired of. Now that I'm in my 30s, I'm trying to fill out my closet with quality staples that I can depend on for any occasion. For example, a little black dress, fitted tees in your typical neutrals and one-and-done outfits for when I want to be stylish and comfortable. This jumpsuit checks all the boxes, and the jewel-toned color I opted for has already garnered a ton of compliments. I recently wore it to my sister’s sprinkle, paired with nice sandals and a gold chain belt, and she was super impressed (as the fashionista of my family, her commendation meant the world to me).

Why I like the PrettyGarden jumpsuit

The fabric feels expensive

The older I get, the more I stress the importance of investment pieces; clothing that will last me in both durability and trend. I can tell if a piece has both judging by its material, and I seriously wasn't expecting how luxe the fabric feels on this jumpsuit. It's heavy, but not in a wear-only-in-winter type of way; just weighted to create a draping effect. Even better, its heaviness contributes to keeping wrinkles at bay — a surprising plus.

I like how the material feels nice and smooth against my skin. And while it feels soft, it's also on the thinner side, so I'd recommend wearing the right underwear that won't show lines.

Its fit is flattering and elongating

Can you really go wrong with a high-waisted fit? I know I can't, so I was immediately drawn to this detail before ordering it. The waistband is elastic, so it's also pretty stretchy but won't stretch out after wearing for a few hours.

I'm also in love with its wide pant leg, which hits at the toes for my 5'3'' frame. All I need is a slightly lifted sandal or sneaker and I'm good to go. I think I could also get away with a simple flat shoe, but that style doesn't give off that elongated silhouette that I've come to love while wearing this jumpsuit.

Lastly, the mock neck at the top is the standout detail of this 'fit. It screams trendy and pulls attention to the neck and up. So, when I style my hair with a slicked-back bun and accessorize my ears with statement jewelry, I have a winning look on my hands. Having a mock neck also makes this jumpsuit great for my fall or winner wardrobe; I can't wait to pair with booties and a cropped leather jacket.

What to consider

Because I'm on the shorter side, it's not uncommon for me to run into sizing issues with jumpsuits — mainly in the crotch area. I'm talking major MC Hammer pant-like sagging problems. While this garment offers a massive improvement, I do wish it was a little more fitted in that area. Maybe if the brand offered an XS, the pant portion would lay just right.

I'd also like to note that the zipper in the back runs from the waist all the way up to the neck. Closing it up wasn't too difficult for me since the fabric is stretchy and I'm marginally flexible, but if you're not the latter, I'd suggest practicing taking this jumpsuit on and off before going to a public bathroom by yourself.
