In the beauty and wellness world, Black business owners are making a name for themselves by creating innovative, natural and inclusive products. From hair tools designed for textured hair to inspiring journals that promote healthy habits and success, these brands are creating products that are too good not to try.
So, if you are on the hunt for some new beauty andwellness product recommendations, you're in luck. Makeup artist Delina Medhin stopped by TODAY with Hoda & Jenna to share six items from Black-owned brands that she has been loving recently.
From nude lipsticks for all skin tones to vibrant candles, read on to shop Medhin's top picks.
Emollient Body Butter
After being diagnosed with eczema, Keeshagaye Whitter tried everything to stop the irritation. Her frustration fueled her research, and she found that most products that claimed to have pure shea butter only contained about five percent of the moisturizer. Whitter decided to develop her own formula and after years of modifying and perfecting her recipe, she launched Emollient. Her shop sells five different body butters that are each available in sizes small, medium and large. All of the butters are 100 percent handmade with organic butters, premium oils and essential oils. The butters are also rich in antioxidants and vitamins to help your skin feel nourished.

Melanin Haircare
Melanin Haircare was founded by two sisters, Whitney and Taffeta White, and as a brand they focus on creating natural, safe and affordable hair care products. Available on their shop are hair wraps and towels, shampoos, styling creams and more. Medhin's personal favorite is their multi-use oil, which is crafted to be non-greasy, lightweight and filled with nourishing oils such as baobab, argan, jojoba, sage and more. The goal of the oil is to nourish and lock in hydration to improve hair manageability.
Brush with the Best Detangling Brushes
Created by celebrity natural hair stylist Felicia Leatherwood, this detangling brush was designed after she heard complaints that most detangling tools on the market rip out hair or cause split ends and breakage. This brush is made to be flexible with widely spaced bristles and a three-side bonded design. Great for curly and kinky natural hair, this brush works to painlessly remove knots from all hair textures.
Mented Cosmetics
Mented Cosmetics was born after founders KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson discussed how difficult it was to find the perfect nude lipstick. What started out as a desire to create nude lipsticks for all skin tones has developed into a beauty brand with eyeshadow palettes, blushes and more. All of their lipsticks are vegan, paraben free, non-toxic, gluten free and cruelty free as well.
CLR Los Angeles Candles
Inspired by the endless glow of Los Angeles, founder Taylor Davis launched this brand in 2020 to capture the hue and scent of every mood, person and occasion. The outside of each candle is a sleek, white matte while the inside has vibrant colors that shine through when the candle is lit. With every candle purchase, there is a built-in donation, so five percent of profits automatically goes to the organization Black Women for Wellness Los Angeles to promote the heath and well-being of Black women and girls through health education, empowerment and advocacy.
