These Fleece-Lined Jeans Are Much Stretchier, Comfier and Warmer Than I Could Have Imagined

Much like oil and vinegar, the cold and I do not mix. If I could live in a perpetual state of summer, I'd give pretty much anything to make that happen. Since I have no intentions of leaving the East Coast and escaping this four-season life (and my nieces simply wouldn't allow it), I have to keep my cold-weather wardrobe up to date — or else freeze to death.

Given my dramatics, you can probably guess that my current winter closet is packed with pieces like matching sweat sets, thick leggings, thermals and anything that will keep shivers at bay. But as much as I love loungewear, it would be nice to find clothing just as comfortable and toasty for wearing to the office, or anywhere I want to look more put-together. When I was asked to try this fleece-lined denim, it seemed like I actually found my answer. But would an under-$40 pair of jeans deliver in style, comfort, and most importantly, warmth?

How I tried the fleece-lined jeans

In order to give these a true review, I wore them in the coldest conditions I could access: the New Jersey Transit rail line. We could be in the middle of a severe blizzard, and the train will still have the A/C on full blast. So, I couldn't think of a better location to give these a try. I also wore them into the office (which also feels like the Arctic Circle, depending on which conference room I'm in) to see if they could pass for a casual-professional look. And, of course, I pulled these on any time I had to brave the chilly weather.

What I liked

They are super soft and stretchy

If all of my favorite pairs of jeans felt this soft, I would be in absolute heaven. I'd be lying if I said this didn't largely have to do with the amount of stretch the material offers. Quality jeans can sometimes feel rigid, almost like you’re constantly breaking them in. But I'd be willing to bet that, if I ever had the skill, I'd be able to easily do the splits without risk of these jeans ripping. They are incredibly easy to move in and have all-day-wear potential, which is almost unheard of for denim.

I love that I don't experience any stiffness or rough texture with this Amazon find, all thanks to its cozy sherpa lining. It almost feels like I've wrapped my favorite blanket around my legs and gone for a walk. Essentially, I'm pretty sure I found a way to wear sweatpants to work, without technically wearing sweatpants.

Goodbye, chilly legs

Having never owned or tried a pair of fleece-lined pants before, my main concern was that they would feel much too thick. It turns out, I didn't have to worry, because the fit is far from bulky. The fleece lining is thin, making it easier to move, but still enjoy the heated benefits. How warm are we talking? Thankfully, nothing sweat-inducing, but it's a noticeable layer that I'm deeply thankful for while I'm sitting in my icy train car, working in a chilly office, or braving the wind while walking outside.

Next month, I'll be traveling to Norway with family and friends for a winter getaway. (Danielle, why are you going to one of the coldest places on Earth after just explaining that you hate the cold? Listen, you'd make sacrifices for the chance to see the Northern Lights, too!) These jeans couldn't have made a more timely introduction, because I will definitely need them while visiting during the country's coldest month of the year — meaning I'll need to dress for 10-degree days with hardly any sunlight.

What to consider

More consideration of function over fashion

At this point, I don't know what's trending more when it comes to jeans. I know a wide-leg fit is largely preferred in younger generations — and for millennials looking to sustain as much of their youth as possible (me). But skinny and bootcut styles have also been making a long-term comeback. This pair surely leans towards the latter, so it's not my cup of tea when it comes to style. These also run a little big on me — I ordered the extra small, yet they are still quite loose around the waist and aren't as snug in the thigh area as I normally like. I may not be getting perfection in the overall look, but I wouldn't hesitate to reach for these jeans when running errands or dressing for a casual event.

But, if you're intent on finding a specific style or fit, the brand has a few options with fleece lining.

One Amazon reviewer raves about the comfort and mentions that she is 5-foot-3, making them a great length for petites.

Multiple Amazon reviewers say they love these jeans so much that they bought (or will be buying) more. "I have three pair[s]of these jeans in two colors. Very comfortable. I wore them all the time in the winter. They washed well, no real shrinkage that I noticed," says one reviewer.

Heipeiwa Pull-On Jeans

You can count on these jeans to be extremely comfortable with their no-fuss, pull-on design.
