Chef notes
The ginger is still the star of the show in this alcohol-free version of a classic Moscow mule. The lime adds acidity and combining the two in an easy to make syrup ensures balance.
Ingredients
Ginger-Lime Syrup
- 1/2 cup ginger juice
- 1/2 cup lime juice
- 1 cup turbinado sugar
Mocktail
- 1½ ounces ginger-lime syrup
- 6 ounces soda water
- 1 lime wheel, for garnish
- Candied ginger, for garnish
Preparation
For the ginger-lime syrup:
Combine ingredients in a saucepan and heat on medium until sugars dissolve. You can store it, covered, up to two weeks.
For the mocktail:
In a shaker, combine the ginger-lime syrup and soda water. Stir gently, then strain over ice in a Collins glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and a piece of candied ginger.
