Chef notes

The garnishes are almost as important as the drink in this festive Tiki cocktail for two. Traditionally, this is served in a large bowl-like vessel called a "scorpion bowl" or a "fish bowl," but can also just be served in a pitcher and divided into smaller glasses.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark rum
  • 1/2 cup light rum
  • 1/4 cup gin
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime or lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons orgeat or almond syrup
  • 3 cups ice
Garnish
  • paper umbrellas, maraschino cherries, orange rinds, pineapple wedges and edible flowers

    Preparation

Working in batches in a blender, combine all the ingredients along with ice, until the ingredients are fully incorporated and ice is crushed. Transfer to a scorpion bowl-style drinking vessel or a pitcher. Garnish as desired and serve immediately.
