Obama travels to Saudi Arabia

President Obama is visiting Saudi Arabia today in an effort to warm relations with America’s most powerful Arab ally. NBC’s White House correspondent Peter Alexander reports.

>> reporter: tamron, good morning to you. president obama will be meeting and having a private dinner with saudi arabia 's king abdullah today. among the most significant topics the two men will focus on, iran , syria and egypt as well as the role of the muslim brotherhood . the saudis want to increase weapons to insurgents in that country fighting against the assad regime. iran , which is saudi arabia 's biggest rival in this region. hoping to lift sanctions in exchange for limits on iran 's nuclear program doesn't in any way compromise the relationship between the u.s. and saudi arabia . senior administration officials say the relations between the two countries have already improved after six days and a four-nation tour, president obama , tamron, will finally head home to washington tomorrow.
