Cute, cozy and affordable — why I'm wearing this Amazon romper on repeat this summer

Unlike Trix, rompers aren't just for kids. While the popular one-piece certainly isn't a new trend, it seems to be catching on as the perfect summer alternative to a sleek jumpsuit.

I love the romper style for its practicality — why go through the struggle of matching tops with bottoms when you already have a one-and-done outfit ready to go? I just needed to find one I can rock at home, the store and everywhere in between. Fortunately, I discovered the perfect piece on Amazon for under $30.

Amazon Essentials Studio Terry Romper

This Amazon Essentials find has a rating of over four stars from more than 2,500 shoppers and is the retailer's choice for "terry cloth rompers." Since its initial release in 2020, Amazon has doubled its color options and even added an Ikat Animal design to its print selection, which also includes tie-dye and stripes.

I chose the Charcoal Heather shade since I wanted a neutral color that I could wear with different shoes and accessories — including tools. One of the first places I wore this romper was at my brother's house, which was being renovated at the time. I'm no fashionista, but I may have accidentally invented construction-chic.

It's available in multiple sizes

I'm 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 112 pounds, so I ordered a size XS. It fits just right after I use the adjustable drawstring to cinch the waist a little. Between the cinched waist and the V-neck, it actually looks quite feminine and flattering.

However, you don't have to be petite to feel comfortable in it. One reviewer with a self-proclaimed long torso says she normally has trouble finding rompers that are long enough. She explains that this one "fits great with a little wiggle room." Another review comes from a woman who ordered an XXL and refers to it as a sexy alternative to sweats.

Cute, comfy and workout-friendly

Technically, the romper is made of 57 percent viscose, 38 percent cotton and 5 percent elastane, but I would just describe the fabric as feeling like your favorite worn-in sweatshirt. The soft, stretchy fabric is even comfy to nap in or wear for a workout. And since it's sleeveless, it's still breathable enough to wear on a balmy summer day or even as a beach cover-up.

For a casual romper, it's also surprisingly stylish. I can pair it with a blazer to wear during a Zoom call with clients or pop on a jean jacket and cute shoes for an easy yet fashionable look.

My one (and only) complaint

My only complaint about this romper is that it doesn't come in even more colors and designs. The second it comes out in a summertime red or funky pattern, I'm going to drop whatever I'm doing at the moment and order them. And for just $25 each, I won't feel so bad about adding more than one to my cart.
