When it comes to any major sales event like Amazon’s Prime Day, my friends and family often ask me, a shopping editor for nearly a decade, two questions: “What should I buy during Prime Day?” and “What are you buying during Prime Day?” Luckily for them, I have the answers.
As an editor whose job requires testing hundreds of products, shopping and tracking deals every day, I have an abundance of product knowledge and experience with more brands than the average person. This means that I, and the whole Shop TODAY team, are very particular about what we choose to buy ourselves — especially as we combed through over 1 million deals for Prime Day. So, from food to home essentials, we’re sharing what we’re actually shopping for during this four-day event so you can get a peek into our carts (some picks are even over 50% off!). Go ahead, be nosy, we love to share! Be quick, though, because the deals end in less than 24 hours!

Kitsch Satin Scrunchies
When it comes to her must-buy list during Amazon Prime Day, deputy managing editor Jess Bender tends to shop for the people in her life first. “My mom is always on the hunt for hair products that’ll help tame her glorious but frizzy lion’s mane,” she notes. “She has a collection of hair ties in her home bathroom that look like they’re stressing her strands out, so I know these satin scrunchies will prevent breakage in the long run. I’ve fallen asleep with one of these in my own tresses each night for the last two years and they’ve kept my own frizz at bay!”
“I love Blueland products, especially their refillable cleaning sprays,” says writer Emma Stessman of the eco-friendly tablets. “It costs a little more upfront because you’re buying the glass bottle along with the tablets (though it’s less right now), but then you can get the refills for a fraction of a cost of other sprays. Even more so because the tablets are 25% off right now!”
While my dog isn’t picky, I’ve noticed that he gets extra excited for these. Because they’re bite-sized, I’ve been using them on walks and in his enrichment toys during the warmer months, when outside walks aren’t as long as they could be.
“I’ve worn these eye patches for the last three Prime Day shifts and my under-eye area has rarely felt this soothed,” says Bender. “I’ll be restocking by the end of today since I’m on my last pair!”
If you’re like me, a simple hand sanitizer isn’t enough sometimes. That’s hwy I love carrying some hand wipes in my bag in case of emergency or for when I need to wipe down a shopping cart. I love these because of the light scent and because they don’t dry out my hands.
“Very not sexy, but cleaning supplies have been my main purchases this Prime Day,” explains Stessman. She’s not the only one to pick up more cleaning supplies, as you’ll see in this list. “I just restocked on these flushable toilet cleaning pads, which do a great job,” Stessman adds.
In addition to picking up new items, restocking is also on deputy managing editor Francesca Cocchi Zabloudil list. “Of the many products I’ve used to style and enhance my thick eyebrows over the years, Brow Wiz is the clear winner.” She loves that it can manage her brows and give them some color.
Writer Jannely Espinal says this face mask is one of her favorites, and she’ll be stocking up while it’s on sale. The combination of caviar extract and PDRN revitalizes and strengthens the skin barrier.
Both I and editor Kamari Stewart-Jackson are big fans of these electrolyte packets. For myself, I’m stocking up on this fun flavor, and Stewart-Jackson is picking up the sugar-free white peach flavor because it’s her “absolute favorite,” adding that “We go through so much of this and take advantage of any and every opportunity to get them on sale.”
For those hard-to-reach spots, I’m picking up a power scrubber that can clean the tightest corners. As somebody who lives in a small apartment, even the smallest messes can pile up quickly so keeping things clean is a must. This one has multiple attachments so I can tackle those pesky areas where grime builds up.
“I put these chili oils on truly everything, and I think I have some at least once per day,” says Stessman of the popular Fly By Jing chilli crisp oil. This one is packed with bold flavors and is also suitable for most diet types.
“I was testing this for Travel Awards so I brought it to California [where I’m from], and my mom and sister both want one now, so I’m getting them one,” says deputy editorial director, Alexandra Deabler. “It’s a 2-in-1 convertible sunhat and visor with UPF protection.”
My dog often thinks that most packages are for him so I often end up picking up something that will entertain him as well. He’s a big fan of Woof products and this one offers everything I need to keep him busy at a discount.
“I’m tempted to stock up on the noodles too, because they’re so good and so easy to dress up with veggies and protein,” adds Stessman. These come in a pack of six and have a variety of flavor options to choose from.
Bender also notes that she’s grabbing home essentials, such as her favorite matcha. She says that the one from Jade Leaf “nearly matches the quality I get from my go-to cafes and it saves me tons of money to boot.”
For me, cleaning can be a bit of a chore, so any item that helps make it easier is a winner in my books. I’m picking up this handy kit that comes with the tried-and-true Magic Erasers and a handle to make it easy to get in all the nooks and crannies. Multiple Shop TODAY editors approve of this new launch from the brand and I’m excited to add it to my cleaning rotation.
Editor Shannon Garlin is grabbing this top in a stylish butter yellow go spruce up her summer wardrobe. It has the perfect blend of satin and lace to give a skirt, shorts or jeans that elevated touch.
“I try to embrace my natural hair in the summer, and I always get so many compliments when I spritz this on after showering and let my hair air dry,” says Cocchi Zabloudil. She adds that “It enhances my waves for that beachy look without adding weight or a crunchy texture — plus, it smells incredible.”
Senior editor Julie Ricevuto uses Prime Day to restock on favorites, most notably this tinted moisturizer, which she says “offers the perfect amount of coverage, while mattifying and protecting the skin from UV rays.”
Cocchi Zabloudil is also picking up this KitchenAid attachment, which she considers “an essential upgrade.” She explains that “Unlike the standard beater that came with my mixer, this one has a grippy, rubber spatula-like edge that scrapes the bowl clean — no wasted cookie dough on my watch!”
Those that know me, know that I love perfume and smelling good. One of my go-to scents is Phlur’s Missing Person, and when I found out that it comes in a body oil, I knew I needed to get it. It’s also infused with powerhouse nutrients so it’s also beneficial for the skin.
Cocchi Zabloudil bought these trendy jelly flats for Prime Day, saying she “finally gave in to the trend.” The slip ons are waterproof and come in six different colors.
While I prmarily restock on household essentials, when I have a product that is more of a little treat that’s almost out, I try to restock that too. This is one of those little treats. It’s a candle that doubles as a moisturizer, yes really. Once the soy wax melts down, you can later use it on your body for a soothing massage. It’s one of my favorite ways to wind down on a Sunday and when you let the oil cool down just enough, it’s perfectly warm and absorbs beautifully.
Ricevuto is also a fan of this brand, specifically their pre-shampoo hair oil which she says is a great way to revitalize damaged strands. “This is also good to use before going into a pool with chlorine or salt water, as it’ll prevent hair from drying out,” she says.
I know I’m not the only one who has struggled with thinning hair. Since January, I’ve been more diligent with prioritizing my hair health and am now in need of a restock of my Nutrafol supplements since I am seeing a lot of baby hair growth. While I’m in the awkward stage with it, it’s been encouraging to see the little bit of growth coming in and growing longer than usual.

I will be honest, I haven’t used a lot of CeraVe products, even as somebody who used to cover beauty.
