Chef notes

Sure, you can buy a box of candy. But homemade is always more personal and treasured. And trust us: this is one impressively easy gift to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 toffee bars, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup pretzels, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

Preparation

1.

Line an 9 x 9 square pan with parchment, making sure the parchment hangs over the side of the pan so it's easier to lift it out when set. Set aside.

2.

Place the chocolate in a heat safe bowl.

3.

Bring the heavy cream just to a boil and pour over the chocolate. Shimmy the bowl to make sure the chocolate is submerged. Allow to sit for 3-4 minutes to melt completely and then whisk until combined. Allow to cool for about 10-14 minutes and gently fold in the toffee and pretzels. Pour into the prepared pan and allow to set, overnight.

4.

Cut the chocolate into rectangles and sprinkle with cocoa. Wrap in parchment and tie with a pretty ribbon!
