A classic white tee and a pair of jeans will never go out of style. But sometimes that outfit formula can feel a little repetitive, especially during the warmer transitional months when it's all I want to wear on casual days.
Thankfully, I found a simple top on Amazon that allows me to keep my minimalist look, with an elevated touch. It's been a much needed addition to my growing capsule wardrobe.
Why I like this top
It's a simple yet elevated tee
I cannot get enough of a basic top that I can wear with anything, and this one from Blooming Jelly delivers in both style and versatility. At first glance, it looks like a casual, crewneck tee — but look again and you'll notice it has pretty petal sleeves and a pleated-looking design that gives it an elevated touch.
I've only had the top for a couple of weeks and I've already worn it three times! I paired it with a pair of jeans and flats for work, and wore it with jean shorts and sandals while in the Hamptons and around New York City. It's the perfect top for working at the office, grabbing brunch or just feeling put together on a errand run.
The fabric is so soft
One of my favorite things about this shirt is how incredibly lightweight and soft the fabric is. The brand says it's made with a blend of polyester, rayon and spandex, which I found to be so comfy — like I was wearing a casual cotton tee. Another nice touch is that the fabric is waffle-knit; I found that this added a bit more structure without detracting from its breezy and lightweight feel.
What to consider
I will note that the white color is a little bit sheer, so I just wore a thin white camisole under it to work to feel more covered. Still, it didn't feel bulky! However, I have worn it with just a nude bra and I found that it wasn't as sheer as I expected and didn't feel exposed at all. The top does come in other colors though, and Amazon reviewers didn't mention anything about the sheerness on those.
I also found that the shirt has looser-fit, which I was happy about! I ordered a small (my usual size) and it fit perfectly and didn't feel baggy. The top's design is a little long and hits below your backside, so if you like to wear your shirts untucked, this a good feature for leggings and skinny jeans. I love to wear high-waist bottoms, and still found that I could easily tuck in my shirt.
Washing this top is super easy, too. I just cleaned it with a regular load of white clothes and even threw it in the dryer — it didn't shrink and maintained its structure. You can definitely say that it's a well-made shirt for the affordable price.
Since I've already worn it so much ... I think I might need to grab it another color, too!
