Life well lived: Groundbreaking African-American dancer Arthur Mitchell dies at 84


While many battles during the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s were won in the streets, churches and courthouses, Arthur Mitchell made history as the first African-American dancer of the New York City Ballet. He died this week at age 84. Sunday TODAY’s Willie Geist remembers a life well lived.
