I don’t know about you, but one of my least favorite things about traveling is all the packing. The sheer number of decisions can feel overwhelming, and more often than not, I end up procrastinating until the last minute because I dread it so much. But one tool I’ve found that actually makes packing a little bit easier? The Wavytalk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set.

There’s a lot to love about this handy tool, but its compact design and interchangeable attachments make it especially great for travel. Instead of stuffing my suitcase with multiple styling tools, I can bring just one base and a few attachments, depending on the look I want, while I’m away. After testing the set both at home and with my hairstylist at the salon, it quickly earned a permanent spot in my travel bag.

Wavytalk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set

What is the Wavytalk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set?

The Wavytalk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set is a hair curling tool that can create a variety of different types of curls using the different provided attachments. The set comes with five different attachments, and can be used on multiple hair types. I was sent the “Curling Wand (0.5”-1.25”)” set, which includes the thermal brush, the 1.25” curling wand, the bubble curling wand, the tapered barrel, and the 0.5” curling wand.

There are a few other types of wands that you can choose from if you’d prefer a different set of attachments. For example, you can choose the “Curling Iron (0.35“-1.25”)” set, which includes the 0.5” small curling iron, the 0.35”-0.7” tapered curling wand, the 1” curling wand, the 1.25” curling iron, and the 1.5” curling brush. There are two other options you can choose from as well — including the “Curling Iron (0.5“-1.25”)” set and the “Curling Iron (0.5“-1.25”) & 1” Flat Iron” set.

All that’s to say, there are multiple different attachments available to suit your hair goals. The Curling Wand set that I tried allowed me to experiment with tighter curls, waves and a sleek-looking blowout.

How I tried the Wavytalk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set

I tried this pick in a few different ways. The first time I used it, I actually brought it with me for my hair appointment with Paul Cucinello, founder of Cucinello Beauty. Considering Cucinello has been my longtime hairstylist for years, I knew he’d love to test out the Wavytalk with me after he dyed my roots, boosted my color with a gloss, and gave me a quick blowout. I brought the device to his salon to see what his honest thoughts were (more on that later).

After we experimented with it in his salon, I took it home and tried it a handful of times in my bathroom. Some of the attachments I used on my entire head, like the thermal brush and the 1.25” curling wand. Others, like the 0.5” curling wand, I only used on a few sections of my hair to test it out. I didn’t want to curl my entire head in super tight curls because I didn’t think it would look good, and I knew it would take me 500 years to do.

I used the Wavytalk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set on both freshly-washed hair and on two- or three-day hair, too.

My honest thoughts

I think this is a really useful, affordable tool that can create more hairstyles than any other singular device. At $70 per kit (when not on sale), you get five different attachments along with a protective glove and two clips, which is definitely a lot of items for a lower-set price. I found every attachment easy to use, and I also thought that the tool heated up relatively quickly, too.

It was really cool to see the different types of curls that the attachments were able to create on my hair. Some of them I use much more often than others, and one attachment in particular left me slightly confused. The 1” bubble barrel curling wand was a bit tricky for me to figure out how to use. I eventually figured it out after watching a YouTube tutorial for how to use a bubble curling wand, but it was still something I hadn’t really seen or tried before.

What to consider

There are a few things to note about the Wavytalk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set:

  • The price point reflects the quality of the tool. While I don’t think the quality is terrible by any means, I would be interested to see how this tool holds up for someone using it daily. Because of this, I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who styles their hair with hot tools every single day. If that’s the case for you, you’re going to need to invest in a tool that will hold up to long-lasting use.
  • The length of the attachments are actually shorter than they appear. This tool was absolutely perfect for my medium-length hair, but for someone with long or really long hair, you’re going to need to opt for another tool that has a longer barrel. But if you have short or medium-length hair, I think this tool is perfect for you.
  • Be careful in the area where the attachment is attached to the base of the tool. I found that some of my hair strands got stuffed in between where the attachment and base meet. I didn’t notice it much with the curling wand attachments, but I did notice it with the curling brush attachment.

Is the Wavytalk 5-in-1 Curling Wand Set worth it?

Yes, I definitely think it’s worth the price tag! It’s great for people with short to medium hair who like to style their hair in different types of waves and curls. Another thing I really love this tool for is traveling. Instead of bringing along a bunch of different hair tools (that add weight and take up space in your luggage), you can bring the Wavytalk Curling Wand base and any of the attachments you think you’ll want to use on your trip. Plus, the actual tool feels lighter and is smaller than other tools I typically bring on trips with me, making this truly ideal for travel.
