Since Tupperware was founded in the 1940s, it has been a household staple that we've depended on for storing leftovers, meal prepping and so much more. Now, the beloved brand is introducing a new product line, which is arguably its biggest innovation since the first containers were released: the Voila Glass collection.

Tupperware Voila Glass collection

About the Tupperware Voila Glass collection

Per the brand, the glass storage containers in the Voila Glass collection have an all-in-one functionality to simplify your cooking routine, thanks to the highly durable borosilicate glass it's made with. The containers can be used for every step of the cooking process from prepping and cooking to serving, storing and reheating.

The shock-resistant glass also makes the dishes suitable for temperatures between 13 degrees Fahrenheit to 572 degrees Fahrenheit. So they can be used in the freezer, oven, microwave, dishwasher, air fryer and even the broiler.

Most notably, the airtight lid promises to lock-in freshness and prevent spills. The lid has a built-in vent to release steam after microwaving, along with a 360-degree design for confident gripping and lifting that will surely be convenient for daily use.

Other helpful features include fill lines already built into the containers to help prevent overflow. There is a straight line for daily meals and a wavy line for freezing soups and liquids so they can expand comfortably within the confines of the container.

The Voila Glass Collection comes in three sizes — 1.7 qts, 1.8 qts and 3.2 qts — and pieces can be purchased individually or as a set via the Tupperware website.

Tupperware Voila™ Glass Square Food Storage

The square Voila Glass dish is ideal for reheating your meal prepped lunches and dinners. It's also great for shaping cakes, pies and whatever you desire.

Tupperware Voila™ Glass Round Food Storage Container

The round shape of this container makes it ideal for holding your best soups and sauces. The brand recommends letting the container sit at room temperature for 10 minutes when moving between hot and cold environments to keep the dish from cracking.

Tupperware Voila™ Glass XL Rectangular Food Storage Container

Although all three dishes are suitable for oven use, this 3.2-quart container is perfectly sized for baking (but be sure to remove the lid before popping in the oven). The max-fill line is especially helpful here when dealing with batters to make sure everything stays neatly inside of the dish (and not on your oven floor).

Tupperware Voila™ Glass Bakeware Set

This three-piece set includes the complete Voila Glass collection, which consists of the round, square and rectangular baking dishes. This trio is perfect for all of your fall and holiday get-togethers.

More glass food storage containers to we love

The Kitchen by Crate Collection

"I’ve been needing to swap out my food storage containers for non-plastic versions for quite some time. Fortunately, a recent press dinner finally got me started on that path since they included this glass container in our swag bag to take home leftovers," says deputy managing editor Jess Bender.

"Aside from having plenty of room for all of the accoutrements I could ever dream of eating, I really like the tightly-sealed bamboo lid that also happens to look quite nice amongst my fridge staples,” she added.

Pyrex Simply Store 9-Pack Mixed Sized Glass Food Storage Set

Although the set above is not the exact set associate editor Kamari Stewart bought in person, it's a similar pick from the top-performing brand she can't stop praising. "I switched from plastic containers to using all glassware about 5 or so years ago now, and I’ll never go back," she says. "Pyrex is accessible, affordable and they have combination sets like these that come with the perfect sizes for everything."

Pyrex® Ultimate™ 10-Piece Glass Storage Set

Another pick from Pyrex, this 10-piece set is both editor- and chef-approved. Chef Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee previously told us she especially enjoys its reheating benefits. “The Pyrex bottom goes from freezer or refrigerator to microwave and even oven (once it’s pre-heated), so that you don’t have to move the food to heat up. No need to dirty up another container," she said. "And they also store nested inside each other, which is an added bonus!"

Production coordinator Camryn Privette is also a fan, and says she has used it for storing leftovers to making baked goods. "Overall, they are totally worth the money and I will have them for years to come!"

Anyday 4-Piece Square Dish Starter Set

This set isn't just pretty. Shop TODAY trends editor Rebecca Brown praised the versatility of the dishes beyond food storage. "You can actually bake in them (which I find to be just wild) and then instead of dirtying another dish, you can store this in the fridge or freezer once cooled," she raves.

Why should you use glass storage?

Glass containers are more expensive than plastic for the most part. Their risk of breakage, especially if you have little ones, and heavier weight might also make you stray away from them. But when it comes to keeping food fresher for longer (and healthier), glass storage may be worth the investment in the long run.

According to the Glass Packaging Institute, using glass storage dishes over plastic is safer and better because they're less prone to melting and staining, easier to clean and have a higher heat tolerance, among other benefits. They're also more sustainable than plastic, which can have a shorter life span.

Is plastic food storage dangerous?

While there are pros and cons to both glass and plastic storage containers, glass dishes are typically “free of BPA and similarly harmful BPA alternatives like BPS and BPF that can leach into your food,” per our previous coverage.

Although a good amount of plastic containers on the market are free of BPA, BPS and BPF, too, some medical professionals have expressed concern over chemical leaching into food after microwaving. Glass storage containers don’t have this same risk, and are often safe(r) for microwave, dishwasher, oven and freezer use.
