Winter is just about winding down, and soon enough, the warm weather will be here. For many of us, that means it is about time to step into seasonal dress restock mode. But while it’s soon to be warm out, it’s tough to justify buying clothes that are only going to work for only the next few months.
That’s why I’m personally such a fan of transitional dressing and finding clothes that work for early summer and spring, but can be worn into the fall and other seasons. With the right dress, you can add a sweater, closed-toe shoes or a light scarf to keep warm on those cool end-of-summer evenings. The right dress will also still keep me cool and cute in high temperatures and humidity.

How I tried the Zesica Casual Flutter Midi Dress
What I first noticed about this dress (besides the over 6,000 five-star ratings) was the long, tiered skirt that hangs at a midi/maxi length, depending on your height. The feminine ruffle of the skirt is mirrored by the fluttery sleeves, which cover the tops of my shoulders. It also comes with the one thing every woman wants in a dress: pockets!
About the sizing
On Amazon, they break down the measurements for your size, so I ordered a small after measuring my waist and chest. The site explained that a small corresponds to a women’s size 4/6, which I found to be accurate.
What I like
There’s multiple colors to shop
It comes in nearly 30 colors, ranging from summer-friendly shades like pale blue, dusty pink and teal, into more fall-friendly colors such as black, plum and coffee. I want to keep the summer vibes going, so I ordered the dress in a pale violet color that seems to look slightly lighter in person than it appears online.
All versions have the aforementioned built-in pockets, and the top of the dress is incredibly forgiving, with stretchy stitches across the bodice that fit to my shape.
It's easy to slip on
What I love about this dress is that it’s easy to pull on. There's no zipper, just a small keyhole shape on the back that uses a single button. Because of the stretch in the top, it slipped on without any trouble — no awkward wiggling to get it on!
The dress isn't heavy
Reviewers noted the dress has a nice weight to it, and I would agree. The fabric is also softer than many more expensive dresses I own, and the skirt drapes over my hips with a nice amount of movement.
What to consider
- When the dress first arrived, it was definitely wrinkled — it came tightly packed in a neat little envelope — but after hanging overnight and a quick hit with my steamer, it looked straight off a store rack. However, a few reviewers noted that the back of the dress, specifically the skirt, held some wrinkles after a long day.
- As someone on the petite side, it fell a bit longer than a classic midi, hitting a bit above my ankles. However, the dress still looked good when paired with flats or heels.

All in all, this dress seems to be the perfect option to have stashed in your closet for any slightly dressy occasion, maybe even a date night, considering my husband seems to be a fan. I tried it on while he was walking by and the first thing he said was, “That’s a really pretty dress, I like it.”
