From impersonating Miley Cyrus at birthday parties to now headlining a worldwide tour, it's fair to say singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson has taken her career to new heights — a dream she's literally wished for since she was a young girl growing up in Baskin, Louisiana.
And now she's achieved all that and more.
When Wilson sat down with us in New York City, she had just released her new album, “Whirlwind,” and was on a brief hiatus from her Country’s Cool Again tour, which will continue through the rest of the year. But she's taken a minute to embark on a new adventure — paying homage to one of her first loves: fashion.
“[Fashion is] just another way for me to be able to express myself and, truthfully, I feel like whatever I put on each morning is how I’m feeling that day,” Wilson says.
When it comes to the fashion trends she feels most confident in — other than her signature flared pants — Wilson isn’t one to shy away from accessories.
“A lot of rings,” she says. “I love more jewelry. I love bolos. I love really just anything that kind of like, takes it to the next level, tells a little story. I love vintage pieces, things that are a little bit flashy [and] unique.”
Some of her fondest memories from her hometown have since inspired her in every creative endeavor, from her father teaching her her first few guitar cords to being given her very first pair of Wranglers.
“I was wearing Wrangler before I could walk,” Wilson admits — and in a full circle moment, Wilson recently released her very first collection with the denim and western apparel brand.
The drop “blends Lainey’s iconic personal style and deep-rooted sense of family tradition with Wrangler’s authentic American heritage and classic western iconography,” per a recent press release. (Yes, there are plenty of bell bottoms.)
“You need to be able to walk into a room and feel you and feel comfortable and feel like you can rock what your Mama gave you,” she says.

Other things that help Wilson feel comfortable on the road? We learned that the singer-songwriter keeps a few non-negotiables with her.
"Things that I just have an unhealthy obsession with are Reese’s cups and Slim Jims. You know, all the things that you don’t need, but I love them. [And] my Ugg boots; you gotta keep it comfortable, too. It’s about balance.”
“I’ve got to have my my Charlotte Tilbury," Wilson continues. "I love her foundation, I love her eyeliner, her lip colors. I just I love her stuff."
Check out a few pieces from Wilson's second Wrangler collection for spring and summer, along with current staples, including her favorite hair care brand and the surprising shoe that keeps her plantar fasciitis pain at bay.
Shopping Diaries: Lainey Wilson
Wrangler x Lainey Wilson Pony Up Bustier Top
When it came to the design process of her Wrangler collection, Wilson says she was heavily involved and even compared the experience to being creative in the songwriting room.
“[Wrangler] got to me, they got to know my personality. We went back to childhood, where I grew up, the way that I was raised. We talked about anything and everything...”
If you look closely, you might see the singer-songwriter’s initials on a few of her newest pieces, including this fitted denim top. It features copper buttons, a vest-inspired cut and a flattering square neckline.
Wrangler x Lainey Wilson Animal Print Bell Bottoms
More times than not, Lainey Wilson is likely wearing her signature fashion item: bell bottoms.
“My very first pair of bell bottoms I ever had was a pair of leopard blue bell bottoms,” she says. “My momma got them for me, and I would hardly take them off.”
So it's no surprise Wilson added her own take on an animal-print flared jean. In addition to its fierce pattern, the pant also features five-pocket styling and a handwritten message embroidered on the inner pocket bag.
Wrangler x Lainey Wilson Pull On Bell Bottoms
If you're leaning toward something a little more classic, Wilson also created a chic pull-on, high-waist style in a more traditional dark blue wash.
Wrangler x Lainey Wilson Embroidered Utility Jacket
Lainey leans into her bohemian style with this utility jacket, which is finished with striking embroidery at the shoulders and a unique button pattern down the middle. We're also loving the standup collar and fit-to-flare sleeves.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation
Wilson's a fan of Charlotte Tilbury foundation, and we're not surprised this beauty must-have is one of her favorites. According to the brand, in addition to offering long-lasting, sweat-proof wear (something useful when you're on stage for hours), the formula is also designed to fully hydrate the skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte & Metallic Double Ended Eyeliner
Wilson also mentions loving Charlotte Tilbury's eyeliner. Though she didn't specify which one, we don't think anyone can go wrong with the brand's double-ended pencil. Each one comes with two shades — one matter, one metallic — which are said to be long-wearing and waterproof.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Hydrating Lipstick
Lastly, Wilson can't be without her Charlotte Tilbury lippies. If you want to try the brand's iconic lipstick, we suggest going with viral shade Pillow Talk. However, when it comes to this hydrating, pigment-packed option, there are still over 20 colors to pick from.
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
When it comes to hair products, Wilson say she prefers Oribe, saying that she "loves the smell." The scent of this texturizing spray is one that many users make a point to talk about in the reviews. It's also great for adding some serious volume to your style.
Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Hair Cream
Another great Oribe product with a scent we wish pumped through the vents of every space we walked into? This moisturizing cream. After it's applied to damp hair, it'll help condition strands and reduce frizz during the air-drying or blow-drying process.
Reese’s Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups Candy
Again, Wilson tells us about her "unhealthy obsession" with Reese's and Slim Jims. If you're also a fan of the iconic chocolate-peanut butter cups, you can buy 36 bars at once for under $30.
Slim Jim Original Snack Size Sticks (46 Count)
The same goes for Slim Jims. However, instead of 36 bars, you can stock up on 46 sticks for just under $13.
Ugg Tasman Slipper
When on tour, Wilson makes sure to always pack her Ugg boots. These Ugg slippers, which boast the same plush, iconic lining as the brand's boots, are simple to put on in a moment's notice. They're available in quite a few shades, too.
Steve Madden Dodge Bone Multi
During our chat with Wilson, she reminisced about a time she wore orthopedic-looking shoes back in 2020. "I think they just looked like orthopedic shoes, but they weren’t actually," she recalls.
Wilson says, "I remember going to a co-write, and the reason I got them is because they were platform tennis shoes. I think they were Steve Madden, and I remember propping my feet up on the table, and they were like 'Lainey, what in the world are you wearing?' I said, 'Well, my bell bottoms are too long and my feet hurt, I got plantar fasciitis!"
We aren't sure which shoes Wilson was specifically referring to, but she was pretty sure they were made by Steve Madden. So, we found a similar pair of platform sneakers that offer some extra height — and many Amazon reviewers rave about how comfy they feel.
However, if you think you're in need of orthopedic shoes for medical reasons, it's best to speak with a podiatrist prior to shopping.
Kendra Scott Ember Gold Bolo Necklace
As previously stated, Wilson “loves bolos,” and this one from Kendra Scott is a stunning, splurge-worthy pick. (Fun fact: Wilson even curated her favorite Kendra Scott jewelry items that you can sort through.)
This piece is designed with brass that’s coated with 14-karat gold, and it features a turquoise red oyster pendant.
