Chef notes

This is a twist on the classic sandwich made popular by the King, Elvis Presley. We take a few liberties by swapping the peanut butter for almond butter and baking the bacon with chili-honey. The sandwich packs a ton of flavor. It's a childhood favorite with an adult attitude!

Technique tip: For easy clean up, line your rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 2 tablespoons spicy honey, preferably Mike's Hot Honey
  • 4 slices sourdough bread, toasted
  • 4 tablespoons maple almond butter
  • 1 banana, sliced

Preparation

1.

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2.

Lay the strips of bacon on an aluminum foil-lined baking sheet. Drizzle the bacon with the spicy honey.

3.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until desired doneness.

4.

Slather the toasted slices of bread with almond butter. Lay slices of banana onto one slice of bread. Top the bananas with 2 strips of bacon per sandwich. Close the sandwich with the remaining slice of toasted bread.
