Asparagus Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound asparagus
  • 8 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 5 ounce Cheese
  • 1 1/2 cup waverly crackers
  • 3/4 cup sliced almonds

Preparation

Baking Directions:

Boil the asparagus for a few minutes and cool.

  Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a pan, then add flour, salt and milk, and mix over stove until thickened.

  Add jar of Old English Cheese and mix together over stove until completely melted.

  Crush crackers and add 4 tablespoons of melted butter to cracker mixture.

  Spread layer of crackers on bottom of 9-by-13 pan (sprayed with Pam).

  Place asparagus on top of cracker layer.

  Pour cheese mixture over top, then add remaining crackers and 3/4 cup toasted almonds.

(You can toast them in a microwave).

  Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes or until slightly brown.
