Apple cake with butterscotch sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 pound light brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 cup eggs
  • 3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 5 1/2 pound coarsely grated apples
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 pound light brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Preparation

Baking Directions:

For the apple cake: Cream butter and sugars, add eggs, sift together dry ingredients, add to egg and butter mixture.

Add apples and mix until just combined.

Pour batter into 10-inch cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

For the butterscotch sauce: Combine ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil, remove from heat, and drizzle the apple cake with warm butterscotch sauce.

Serve immediately.
