If you've followed my Shop TODAY writing journey, then you know my general beat when it comes to beauty. From my favorite foundations to concealer brushes, if it can help hide my acne scars and hyperpigmentation, trust me, I've tried it. At this point in my life, I consider myself a pro at covering up my blemishes, but eliminating them ... that's a skin mystery I've been unable to truly solve.

I've tested my fair share of vitamin C serums and exfoliators over the last couple of years, but none have yielded visible results. That is, until I discovered Korean beauty brand Innisfree and was introduced to their brand-new — and now 2025 Beauty Award-winning — brightening toner pads.

Why I tried the Vitamin C Brightening + Exfoliating Toner Pads

I've suffered from acne on and off for over a decade, which has left me with dark spots and uneven texture. While I've come to terms with my breakout-prone skin, I'm still always willing to try new products and ingredients that claim to tame blemishes and brighten my problem areas. When I met with the brand a few months ago, I learned that these multipurpose pads could target several of my skin care concerns, including dullness and redness.

How I tried the Vitamin C Brightening + Exfoliating Toner Pads

Consistency is key

Throughout the years, I've learned that staying consistent with vitamin C is the only way to prove its effectiveness. So, I added these pads to my everyday morning routine — although the brand says the formula is gentle enough to use AM and PM. I made it the first step after rinsing my face with water, and I let the formula sink in for at least 20 seconds before moving on to my other serums and moisturizers.

There are multiple ways to apply

If you have the time and are in the mood for a short spa-like experience, Innisfree recommends pressing the pads (orange side down) where you need on your face and neck for 10 minutes to allow the toner to thoroughly sink into the skin. The directions also encourage cutting the pads in half to customize them to the area you want to treat.

I, however, rarely allow myself that amount of time in the morning (I am no early riser), so I stick to a quick yet efficient all-over swipe until the pad runs dry. This is also a perfectly good application method, per the brand.

Why I like the Vitamin C Brightening + Exfoliating Toner Pads

My dark spots are fading

It's been a while since I woke up in the morning, looked in the mirror, and saw a noticeable difference in my skin. After about two months of using these toner pads every morning, it finally happened. My spots have actually started to fade, revealing a bright complexion I haven't seen since my late high school, early college days. They're not completely gone (yet, fingers crossed), but seeing improvement like this has boosted my confidence tenfold. I usually hate walking around without makeup on, but now I don't feel as hesitant about showing my bare face.

I’ve also experienced fewer breakouts since adding these pads to my routine. And if a pimple does appear, it doesn’t last for long or leave massive marks behind.

My skin texture has improved

I wasn't sure how effective the exfoliation part of these toner pads would be, especially with how gentle they felt. However, it just took time to get the results I wished for: reduced bumps and smoother skin. The largest difference is on my cheeks; I can't believe how much this toned down my redness or how many smaller spots simply disappeared.

You can also visibly see where the texture seems to even out below my cheekbone. The acne scar divots look less pronounced — I feel an enormous amount of relief, as that's been a major cause of stress for me for years.

Who are the Vitamin C Brightening + Exfoliating Toner Pads best for?

Anyone who needs a gentle treatment that brightens, exfoliates and reduces the look of dark spots. It is not for anyone who wants instant results; these vitamin C pads require patience and consistency, but the outcome is well worth it.

The formula has been dermatologically tested and works on all skin types, according to the brand. The brand also recommends pairing it with a vitamin C serum to enhance your brightening results.
