Ali Larter Opens up About Turning 50, Her Soft Skin Hack and Healthy Snack Must-Haves

Ali Larter is a Jack-of-all-trades. As an actress, she famously played everything from a fitness instructor accused of murder in “Legally Blonde,” to, most recently, a fierce Texan woman smack dab in the middle of a fortune-seeking oil industry in “Landman.” But off camera, Larter lives a much quieter life than her on-screen personas.

In reality, Larter is a nature-loving mother of two living far away from Hollywood. She moved to Idaho from Los Angeles six years ago and adapted to life outdoors in the countryside — but that doesn’t mean her days have significantly slowed down. After turning 50 this year, Larter’s career is as busy as ever, proving not much has shifted professionally over the years. She adds that the birthday milestone brought her a lot less change — in more ways than just professionally — than you’d think: “There’s no shift when you turn this age,” she says. “I’m trying to demystify this idea that there’s this number age [you turn], and all of a sudden everything changes.”

That said, Larter confirms there is one thing that has changed in the last 10 years: her diet and exercise routine. “I would say in the last decade, it’s more my fitness that has changed, [in terms of] consistency with how much I want to work out to be able to feel strength in my body.”

To learn more about how Larter maintains her healthy lifestyle and seemingly ageless appearance, she sat down with us on behalf of Gold Bond, with whom she’s partnering to launch the brand’s latest body lotions and hand creams. Here, as part of our Shopping Diaries series, she discusses all her favorite products, from her go-to healthy snacks to the beauty picks she’s been using for years.

Shopping Diaries: Ali Larter

Her favorite skin care saviors:

Gold Bond Cherry Crush Hydrating Gel Cream

As Gold Bond’s newest launch, this body lotion is a favorite of Larter’s, who says she “loves using this in the morning.” Not only does it boost skin hydration thanks to hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, it also features an invigorating scent with notes of cherry, raspberry and pomegranate seeds.

Gold Bond Softening Vanilla Dream Cashmere Cream

When looking for a thicker body lotion for 24-hour hydration, Larter reaches for this Gold Bond Cashmere Cream. “I live in the mountains, so I know what it’s like to have the sun up until 10 p.m. at night, with high altitude [and] the air is a little drier up here,” she says. “All you want is your skin to feel filled with moisture, and so [this is] a quality product.”

Her everyday makeup favorites:

Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40

Larter swears by this skin tint for everyday use. This makeup-skin care hybrid uses ingredients like hyaluronic acid and squalane to hydrate the skin while still offering coverage along with SPF protection. It comes in 30 different shades, so users can easily find their perfect match.

Lancôme Définicils Mascara

“I love curling my lashes, and I still go back to the Lancôme Définicils,” Larter exclaims. “I’ve been using it on and off for 20 years because you can go in the water, and I can go swimming in the ocean, and it’s not under my eyes. But then when I wash it off at night, it comes off without scrubbing my eyes, so I like that a lot.”

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

For concealer, Larter rotates between a few favorites, including this option from Nars. According to the brand, it brightens and corrects your complexion with up to 16 hours of budge-proof wear.

Clé de Peau Concealer SPF 27

Another concealer in Larter’s rotation? This pick by Clé de Peau. While on the pricier side, reviewers praise the full-coverage option for it’s long wear and ability to cover up dark spots, under-eye circles and more for an airbrushed finish.

Koh Gen Do Moisture Fit Concealer

For flexible coverage without creasing or caking, Larter praises this Koh Gen Do concealer, which utilizes the brand’s “stretch gel technology” to help the formula move with facial expressions for a more natural-looking outcome.

Saie Dew Liquid Blush

For blush and bronzer, Larter prefers the brand Saie. This liquid version from the brand is easily blendable and leaves a radiant finish on the skin. Follow up with Saie’s liquid bronzer for a subtly defined glow.

Her healthy snack must haves:

Good Culture Cottage Cheese

In order to support her rigorous workout routine, Larter swears by a few key snacks for healthy eating, particularly cottage cheese. “I love cottage cheese and I love Bitchin’ Sauce on my cottage cheese,” she says.

Quest Nutrition Protein Bar

While traveling, Larter leans on Quest Protein Bars and pistachios as her go-to healthy snack. Not only are they easy for on-the-go munching, but these bars offer both protein and fiber for a more filling snack.

Ninja Creami Scoop & Swirl Soft Serve Ice Cream Machine

“I love my Ninja Creami,” says Larter, adding that she often makes frozen yogurt bowls with it. In addition to frozen yogurt, you can make soft serve, frozen custard, light ice cream and more with this device. Have specific dietary restrictions? You can also customize your ingredients to ensure your end result is low-calorie, dairy-free, allergen-free, low sugar or even vegan.

Chobani 20g Protein Lowfat Greek Yogurt

When making her frozen yogurt bowls, Larter leans on Chobani’s high protein yogurt options. This one includes 20 grams of protein with no added sugar, and comes in a variety of different flavors.
