Chrissy Teigen is known for her transparency, especially when it comes to parenting. Now the supermodel and cookbook author is opening up about how "mean" it can be.

Teigen recently experienced a challenging day with her adorable 17-month daughter, Luna, so she sought out fellow moms on Twitter and asked them to share their similar struggles.

“I am having a very rough day and it would help me a lot if any moms would like to share stories of their kids being mean to them,” she wrote in a post.

And the commiseration began immediately.

One mom described how her son noted that the makeup she was applying to make her prettier wasn't "working." Another said she was compared to Elmo — only not as pretty and with "a puffy butt," to boot.

Dads also piped in with personal love-horror stories of their own.

TODAY's Matt Lauer added that children don't always try to be mean.

"I think sometimes kids don’t have a filter and they say things," he said, although he admitted: "Other times, kids know where your buttons are."

Al Roker and other TODAY anchors warned Teigen that it's only going to get worse as children get older.

"Get ready for a really long haul of mean," said Maria Shriver. "It starts early. They don’t think they’re being mean, but I get it in their 20's."

The sympathetic shout-outs were a nice change of pace for Teigen, who has been known to put mom-shamers in their place after they've criticized her parenting skills. She's also opened up about undergoing fertility treatments before getting pregnant with Luna and, more recently, how she struggled with postpartum depression.
