At 67, Laura Geller is thriving. The entrepreneur and makeup artist's namesake beauty brand — which is made to address the needs of those with mature skin — is, arguably, more popular than ever. Her products sit at the top of multiple Amazon bestseller lists, she is the longest-serving beauty ambassador on QVC and she was previously featured on Forbes' 50 over 50 list.

And when we sat down with her after her panel at our Stages event this summer, she confirmed to us that her 60s are her best stage of life yet.

"The 30s were the hardest for me, I’ll be honest with you," Geller tells us. "I had a real fear when I was younger about getting older. But the stage I’m in now, which is my mid-60s, I will tell you that I’m having more fun than I’ve ever had, because I’m less afraid to take risks. Like, what’s the worst that’ll happen? I’ve already had the worst things happen."

She's made a career out of catering to those with mature skin. Her makeup products are made specifically for those over the age of 40. In 2021, she even pledged to only use models over that age. So, of course, we couldn't miss the chance to ask for her makeup tips for women with mature skin.

Her biggest tip? Focus on one thing at a time. "Find what troubles you when you look in the mirror and work on that one thing." If you're not confident in your makeup abilities, it can be overwhelming to try and add a bunch of new items to your routine, so starting small can make it easier. "So if your skin is something that’s troubling you, maybe you have rosacea, maybe you have a lot of brown spots, hyperpigmentation, then find that perfect foundation for yourself."

Below, we spoke with Geller about some of her must-haves, from the "goof-proof" foundation that's great for mature skin to the thing she can't start her mornings without.

Shopping Diaries: Laura Geller

The Laura Geller Beauty product everyone should try:

Laura Geller New York Baked Balance-n-Brighten Foundation

If she had to just recommend one product from her brand ("they're all my babies, so it's very hard,"), this would be it. "Foundation will even your canvas out, could make you look smooth, can cover what ails you. We have different foundations. Balance-n-Brighten is our hero product; it’s baked in Italy and that is the easiest one to use. It’s great for mature skin."

She adds, "It's been around for almost two decades, it’s the lazy girl's guide to makeup: It’s mistake-proof, it’s goof-proof."

Overall, for those who are newer to makeup, she says that foundation is a great place to start. "If you get your canvas corrected, everything else just shines through."

Her hair styling go-to:

L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray

"Elnett Hairspray — that stuff is the best," Geller says about this styling must-have. "It doesn’t get sticky, it’s old-school. I get it on Amazon, and it's great."

Her secret to thicker-looking hair:

Living Proof Full Thickening Mousse

When it comes to hair products, Geller says that she typically reaches for "anything volumizing, anything thickening, anything that just makes [my hair] look fuller because I have fine, thin hair."

And she says that she prefers mousses over styling gels, because "a mousse seems to make my hair fluffier and gels tend to weigh it down." And she likes this one from Living Proof, in particular.

Editor's note: Geller's above pick is currently sold out, but you can try Living Proof's Full Dry Volume & Texture Spray.

Her morning essential:

Starbucks K-Cup Coffee Pods, Sumatra

"I can’t mobilize until the coffee goes down the system," Geller says. And she likes Starbucks Sumatra blend, which the brand says has notes of rich herbs and rustic spice.

The comfiest pair of shoes in her closet:

Skechers Women's Go Walk Joy Sneaker

"I live in my Skechers," Geller says. And while she didn't share a specific pair that she loves, we spotted what appears to be this popular pair on her Instagram.

The sneakers are a customer-favorite with tens of thousands of perfect five-star Amazon reviews from shoppers. According to the brand, they feature a cushioned insole that helps reduce foot fatigue and a lightweight and responsive sole.

The snack she always keeps stocked in her kitchen:

Unique Snacks Original Splits Pretzels

When it comes to snacks, Geller loves a classic: Pretzels. And she always keeps these and Trader Joe's Pretzel Slims stocked in her house. These have a unique split texture (hence the name), so they have crispy grooves and airy pockets for extra crunch.
