Fall outwear as seen on TODAY

Mango Trench Fluid Tencel

Trench coats are the first item on Jacques’ list for fall coats. Why? It’s quite simple: trench coats are a timeless wardrobe staple for days you want to dress up (even if the rest of your outfit is casual). This one from Mango is one of her favorites because it is perfectly oversized, long and has an adjustable waist belt.

Mango Bomber Jacket with Shoulder Pads

For styling trench coats, Jacques says it “is all about layering.” She styled the trench coat with this Mango bomber “to create something more contemporary,.” We adore that it is cropped — hitting just below the waist — and padded at the shoulders.

How to style:

With the trench coat and bomber jacket, Jacque suggests experimenting with length and proportion.

H&M Teddy-Lined Jacket

Just a glance at a teddy coat, and you’re automatically consumed by its coziness. One of Jacques’ favorites is this find from H&M. Not only is it wallet-friendly (it’s just under $80!), it’s beautifully lined with a soft teddy fleece. Combined with the faux leather, this jacket looks expensive.

How to style:

Jacques suggests zipping your teddy jacket halfway to show off the upper half of your outfit. And for a bit of contrast, pairing with denim does wonders.

Uniqlo Pile Lined Fleece Stand Collar Coat

Here’s another teddy coat to consider as you hunt for your next fall coat. This one gives extra warm vibes, and that might be due to the textured outer fleece. But there’s more: The jacket is lined with micro fleece in the interior, has a protective standing collar and is long enough in length to keep your legs toasty. We might just bundle up in this piece.

How to style:

Because Jacques says “the teddy coat will never be out of style,” it is versatile enough for a variety of casual looks — just with a bit of an upgrade. She also suggests pushing up the sleeves for sophistication.

H&M Wool-Blend Coat

According to Jacques, pinstripe coats are “a piece that speaks on its own.” For when you’re on-the-go and don’t know what to wear, this style of coat adds “city chicness” to most outfits. Picture strutting in this wool number, in particular, into the office  —  the stripes and structured silhouette definitely caught our attention.

Editor's note: While our original pick is almost out of stock, an alternative to consider while you shop is below:

How to style:

Because a pinstripe coat is a statement piece, consider sticking with your favorite basics. But because fashion is meant to be experimented, style as you please!

Uniqlo Pufftech Oversized Coat

It’s a puffer coat  — or is it? If puffer coats aren’t your thing, meet their sibling: the quilted coat. They’re not as bulky, wide or heavy, but offer similar fluidity and warmth. We couldn’t help but notice that this version from Uniqlo has a water-repellant finish, too, along with those design details. It also happens to be “thinner and more stylized,” says Jacques.

How to style:

Both open or belted, Jacques believes you’ll stand out in this piece regardless.
