How consumers are spending ahead of the holidays
Fall is also when many consumers start getting serious about holiday shopping, and this year, they’re looking at a mix of practical and gifting categories. According to a survey by McKinsey & Company on holiday spending in the United States, 35% of participants said that gift cards ranked at the top of their anticipated spending, with groceries trailing closely behind at 34%. This is followed by apparel and toys ranking at 25% and 20%, respectively. These numbers point to a mix of everyday essentials and fun finds making their way into shopping carts this year.
And shoppers are starting earlier. In the survey, 45% of respondents said they expect to start their holiday shopping by the end of October, if not earlier. This makes fall sales an especially ideal time to stock up on gifts, home finds, wardrobe staples and other seasonal buys before the biggest shopping events of the year arrive. Amazon October Prime Day sale
Amazon recently announced its Prime Big Deal Days event, which will run from Tuesday, Oct. 6 to Wednesday, Oct. 7. Amazon says that you can expect to find deals across most major categories, including savings on the “newest models and brands.” Here are some of the deals that you can shop now, before the event kicks off.
