LeAnn Rimes gets a shorter haircut for the summer and is 'loving the newness'

You "Can't Fight the Moonlight" ... or, apparently, the itch to change your hair.

If there's one thing singer LeAnn Rimes has taught us, it's that you "Can't Fight the Moonlight" ... or, apparently, the itch to change your hair.

After years of saying "How Do I Live" (without you) to her long locks ...

Rimes, 34, has traded them in for a sassy lob!

Rimes quoted Coco Chanel in her Instagram caption, writing, "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life."

"Loving the newness," she added. "It was time to feel a bit lighter on the outside to match what I feel on the inside."

Her stylist, Mateo Sifuentes, gave us another view ... and a little bit of background on Rimes' big chop.

"Guys, she has never been this short since I've known her," wrote Sifuentes. "Proud of her for just going for it! Comfort zone? Nah. We're good."

It turns out she didn't need her long hair "like water, like breath, like rain."

We're proud of you, too, LeAnn!

Of course, we adored you when you were just a teenager, rocking a mop of natural curls at the Grammys.
