When Tide first released its beloved Pods in 2012, the brand changed the way we did laundry. Thanks to the uber-portable packets, people no longer had to lug their big bottles to laundromats or clean up sticky detergent messes.
And after years of testing and developing, Tide has released its latest innovation that promises to make laundry even easier for consumers: the Tide evo tile.
"Tide evo represents over ten years of innovation and product development, and showcases Tide's journey of reinvention every decade: from soap to detergent, powder to liquid then PODs, and now, laundry tiles – the first-of-its-kind in the industry and the next significant leap into the future for both the company and consumers," Marchoe Northern, the president of Procter & Gamble Fabric Care shared in a press release.
Much like the Pods, the evo delivers a powerful clean without the mess, in a lightweight, pre-measured format, the brand says. Each evo tile features six layers with thousands of microfibers of soap that allow water to seep in between, so it dissolves almost immediately when you start the washing machine. For customers with eco concerns, all of the packaging is designed to be recyclable and compact to cut down on the plastic that you find with many laundry products. Basically, you're getting all of the stuff you need for a clean load of laundry, and none of the stuff you don't.
"Tide evo redefines the laundry category while addressing modern consumers' wants from a detergent. It’s lighter, faster, simpler, and provides a superior clean,” Northern continued.
While evo originally debuted at SXSW in 2024, it is now available for purchase nationwide. The scented version can currently be pre-ordered and will ship beginning on March 1, 2026.

According to the brand, the evo combines Tide's most advanced cleaning technologies in a portable, concentrated form. These include surfactants and enzymes for stain fighting, polymers to help with whitening, malodor neutralizing technologies and chelants to help remove odor-causing residue and builders to help soften hard water.
Each evo is tile-shaped and resembles a sponge. The squares are about the size of your palm. During a recent in-person demonstration with the brand, we were able to witness just how quickly the tiles dissolve — within seconds of water touching them. We also saw how they were able to tackle tough stains, like grass and hot sauce, with ease.

For those who are sensitive to fragrance, the brand also has a Free & Gentle version that is already available for purchase.
To use the evo tile, place them in the machine before you add your clothes and it will begin to dissolve once the water starts to fill the washer. For large loads, the brand recommends using two tiles.
