Donald Trump won the presidential race in a big upset, and a glance at social media shows that the news upset much of Hollywood — and beyond.

Celebrities took to Twitter to express shock and disbelief.

Some stars, like "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, offered encouragement to their followers and fellow Americans.

While others, like vocal Hillary Clinton supporter Katy Perry, took Trump's victory as call to action.

And they didn't wait for the final results to express their feelings. Shortly after the polls closed and the first tallies rolled in, hope soon turned to dread for some.

But make no mistake, while celeb reactions have been overwhelmingly filled with surprise and disappointment, those sentiments aren't exactly universal.

Kirstie Alley was among a small but enthusiastic group of celebrities to cheer President-elect Trump.
