Reese Witherspoon's daughter Ava Phillippe is reacting to a TikTok user’s comment about her and her boyfriend.
When Ava shared a TikTok of her and boyfriend Dakota Brubaker lip-synching to a Ke$ha song, some fans saw a resemblance between Brubaker and Ava's dad, Ryan Phillippe. Phillippe and Witherspoon were married for eight years and welcomed two children, Ava, 25, and Deacon, 20.
Fans have long noted how much Ava looks like her mom, but this was a new twist.
“Thought it was her dad for a split second lol,” one user wrote.
“Close enough. Welcome back Reese & Ryan!” another user wrote.
In response to these comments, Phillippe and Brubaker posted another video. This time, the song “Bitter Sweet Symphony” by The Verve played in the background — the song used in “Cruel Intentions,” the 1999 movie featuring Witherspoon and Phillippe.
Brubaker is wearing a black turtleneck and glasses, a nod to Ryan Phillippe's characer in “Cruel Intentions.” Looking at the camera, the couple make shocked faces before Phillippe mouths the word “no!” repeatedly, waving her arms in disgust.
Fans lightly teased the couple in response as they reminisced about the classic movie.
“Your parents are iconic!! Own it!!” one user said with a laughing emoji.
In addition to Ava and Deacon, Witherspoon shares 12-year-old son Tennessee with her ex-husband, Jim Toth.
“I haven’t changed my parenting style since 1999 when I first started becoming a parent, I’m just that kind of person,” Witherspoon told TODAY.com in 2023. “I asked for a lot of tips from my mom friends and my own mother, Betty.”
“I just did the best I could, because you can’t be perfect, you can just be a good mom,” she continued.
