On "The Walking Dead," a bite from a zombie is nearly always fatal, and star Norman Reedus has done a lot of work avoiding such toothy encounters over the past six seasons.

But he lost that battle at a Walker Stalker Convention over the weekend in New Jersey, when a woman reportedly bit him during a photo opportunity.

The woman approached Reedus, who plays archer Daryl on the show, spoke with him for a moment, then leaned over for a little taste, according to multiple outlets including TMZ and fan sites.

"She was right in front of us, and afterward security grabbed her... 'um, ma'am, you just bit Mr. Reedus,'" one attendee wrote, according to a fan forum.

A screen grab of the alleged biter's Instagram that CBS News dug up shows her posing with Reedus and Michael Rooker (who played Merle) and explaining how she "lost my mind" after meeting the "love of my life."

The Instagram profile in the post is private.

Reedus seems to be taking it all in stride. He didn't need medical attention and was not pressing charges for what was reportedly more of a nibble than an actual bite, TMZ reported.

But he also showed off his good humor about the incident in a recent Instagram post of his own, with a caption that read, "Um, please don't."

Point taken, Norman!
