Pope Francis defends Catholic Church’s handling of sex abuse


Pope Francis tried to stem the fallout from the sex abuse scandals engulfing the Catholic Church. In regards to a recent Pennsylvania grand jury report detailing alleged abuse at the hands of 300 priests, the pope said the church has come a long way, but called it “monstrous.” NBC’s Anne Thompson reports for TODAY.
