Life well lived: ‘Canteen Girl’ Phyllis Creore


Phyllis Creore, better known as “Canteen Girl” to American troops during World War II, died this week at the age of 100. As a young actress, she used radio to tell stories and sing songs over the radio for troops during a weekly 15-minute broadcast, and even made recordings at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
