In 2007, retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Rico Roman lost his leg while serving in Iraq. In 2017, the Gary Sinise Foundation, started by the actor best known for his role as Lt. Dan in “Forrest Gump,” built him and his family an adaptive smart home to accommodate his needs.
