Film academy adding ‘popular film’ category to Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced a number of big changes to the upcoming Academy Awards in an effort to make the ceremony more viewer-friendly. The changes include a shortened three-hour broadcast, an earlier airdate for the 2020 Oscars and, perhaps the biggest change, an added category honoring popular films.
