Obama’s decision to commute Chelsea Manning’s sentence draws fire from GOP
The White House announced on Tuesday that President Obama commuted the sentence of Chelsea Manning, the former Army analyst convicted of leaking classified information. Manning is now expected to be freed in May after serving seven years of a 35-year sentence. The commutation has drawn criticism from Republican lawmakers, including House Speaker Paul Ryan and Sen.
