A live album New York rock band the Strokes were planning to release this fall has been scrapped, the group’s manager told Billboard.com.
The show was taped by the BBC in December 2003 at London’s Alexandria Palace while the New York rock act was touring in support of its sophomore RCA album, “Room on Fire.”
The set list featured a blend of tracks from that album, including the singles “Reptilia” and “12:51,” and the group’s 2001 debut “Is This It,” such as “Hard To Explain,” “The Modern Age” and “Take It or Leave It.”
“We got it mastered, and the little that we felt was wrong with it to begin with just wasn’t hammered out in the mastering, so we felt it was just not up to the standard that we think we owe our fans,” manager Ryan Gentles said.
Beyond an Oct. 8 Ramones tribute show with Blondie in New York, the band will spend the rest of the year immersed in rehearsal and demo sessions for its third album at a newly-built recording studio in its practice space.
