While it seems unlikely that most "American Idol” fans envisioned an all-country showdown between Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina at the beginning of the season, judge Randy Jackson saw it coming — or so he says now.

“What’s funny this season is that it’s down to the two I thought it would be when we were doing the auditions, Scotty and Lauren,” Jackson revealed during a Monday night appearance on “Chelsea Lately.” “

The producer-performer even has a guess as to which one will win on Wednesday night. Just three weeks ago, Jackson pegged James Durbin as the one set to win it all, and while the metal man is now out of the game, Jackson still thinks the “Idol” glory will go to a guy.

“I think probably Scotty’s got a slight edge,” the judge guessed, “a very slight edge.”
