Luciano Pavarotti has postponed eight concerts on his world farewell tour because of back pain.
The 70-year-old tenor has been advised not to travel or perform while he's being treated in New York for a "painful condition in his lower back," Pavarotti's London-based spokeswoman, Terri Robson, said in a statement.
After his treatment ends in late May, Pavarotti will resume his tour in Canada on June 3, Robson said.
Concerts will now be held in Helsinki, Finland, Sept. 2; Oslo, Norway, Sept. 5; Vienna, Austria, Sept. 10; Zurich, Switzerland, Sept. 16; and Lisbon, Portugal, Sept. 29.
New dates will be set for postponed concerts in Brazil, Chile and Bosnia-Herzegovina, Robson said Tuesday.
