One Direction is a five-member band again! Or, it was for few fantastic minutes on Tuesday night.

"Late Late Show" host James Corden joined Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson for some harmonies as they cruised around L.A. for the latest installment of Carpool Karaoke.

In fact, Corden wasn't just content to fill the spot left vacant when Zayn Malik left the band.

He brought along matching denim shirts, taught the guys a few synchronized dance moves and turned them into "a proper boy band."

They even used their new gear and skills for an in-car video for their fan-favorite hit "No Control." (Skip ahead to the 7:20 mark for that treat!)

Of course, the members One Direction plan to go off in their own directions soon, with a hiatus already set for 2016.

But Corden believes that with everything he brings to the band, there's really no need for that now.

"I think you should rethink this hiatus, because it feels right, doesn't it?" he asked them.

We'll take their mumbled replies to mean the hiatus is still on.

Still, Corden made a good case for himself with an intense "Drag Me Down" rap just before the ride comes to an end.
