Courtney Love could be Amanda Bynes' sister in spirit: the drug and alcohol abuse, the arrests, the Twitter rants. But when Love tweeted Monday night urging the troubled actress to "Pull it together babe," Bynes didn't appreciate the tough love.
"Courtney Love is the ugliest woman I've ever seen," Bynes tweet-retorted Tuesday. "To be mentioned by her at all makes me and all my friends laugh!"
Plenty of people, including actor Joel McHale, seemed to see the irony in the situation. "My largest spit-take since 1988. Thank you Courtney," McHale tweeted.
But Love herself didn't seem to mind. As others tweeted at her to take her own advice, she responded: "Will you people lay off on giving this girl such grief? Shes a beautiful talented young woman, we all go through our ups and downs. grow up!"
Maybe Love just knew not to take it personally. In the past, Bynes has used Twitter to lash out against other celebrities. She once called singer Rihanna "fugly faced" and Jenny McCarthy "old lady."
