Adele is back, and fans of the rich-voiced chanteuse couldn't be more thrilled. Her new song, "Hello," has a gloriously retro-feeling video, and will be followed by her new album "25" on Nov. 20.

But it has been a while since we've heard from her; the last chart-topping tune she released was the single for "Skyfall" in 2013 (for which she won an Oscar and a Golden Globe), and her previous album "21" (she's so far named her releases after her age) came out in 2012. So what has she been up to?

Well, in addition to recording the new album, she had a baby with Simon Konecki.

Perhaps sensing her fans would want a few words in addition to the music, Adele posted a note on Twitter offering some explanation on Wednesday. She calls "25" a "make-up record" and notes that becoming 25 was "a turning point for me."

"I'm sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened," she wrote.

A life that will undoubtedly only enrich her songs. Welcome back, Adele and ... hello!
