A lioness at the El Paso Zoo in Texas has made a pint-size new friend.
Zari, a 7-year-old African lioness, was filmed in an adorable video playfully swiping at the glass separating her from a tiny young boy at the zoo last month. —
Zari is one of three females and four lions overall who live at the zoo, and she has been there since 2010. She can often be seen playfully interacting with children.
"When some of our lions see little kids, it seems like it calls attention to them and they want to check them out,'' El Paso Zoo spokesperson Karla Martinez told TODAY.com. "She was just trying to play, and the baby was so close. The baby is safe behind a really thick window, which is made so that visitors can see the animals up close."
