After hotel staff allegedly refused to provide a private place for her to use her breast pump, Lynda Mazzalai Nguyen decided to pump breastmilk in a more public setting — the hotel lobby.
"Went to front desk to ask if there's a private space where I can pump, and was told by two different staff to use the bathroom," Mazzalai Nguyen wrote in a now viral Facebook post. "I told them they don't eat lunch in the bathroom, so it's gross to expect me to contaminate baby's milk in there."
"I was met with so much resistance," the nursing mom continued, outlining several instances where staff at the hotel proved to be unhelpful in meeting her request.

The post was also shared by breastfeeding support site Breastfeeding Mama Talk, where the corporate offices of the hotel chain in question — Embassy Suites — responded with a statement about the incident.
"We are very disappointed to hear about this situation and we are sorry for the lack of sensitivity shown to this guest," Embassy Suites wrote. "Sensitivity communication will be reinforced to all of our hotels with the intent to prevent this from happening to anyone else. Celebrating mothers and families is a part of our DNA at Embassy Suites by Hilton and it’s our goal for that to come across to all of our guests every day."

Mazzalai Nguyen later updated her post to address the overwhelming support she has received from her fellow nursing mothers.
"THANK YOU FOR THE LOVE AND SUPPORT. AMAZING. I'm both super excited to spread awareness and a little mortified that I'm everywhere," she wrote. "I've received tons of messages from women sharing their terrible pumping experiences in awful conditions AND wonderful experiences at hotels and other places that provided accommodations without batting an eye! There's hope that more places will eventually follow suit and get it right!!"
