BAN IN PLACE: New York City's Board of Health banned sales of big sodas and other sugary drinks at eateries including restaurants and concession stands, opening up a new front in the war on obesity.
NOT SO BIG GULP: The regulation puts a 16-ounce size limit on cups and bottles of non-diet soda, sweetened teas, and other calorie-packed beverages. It excludes beverages sold in supermarkets and most convenience stores.
SUPERSIZE ME: The restaurant and beverage industries say the city's health experts are exaggerating the role sugary beverages have played in obesity. Some New Yorkers also say the rule as intrusive.
