When you’re deciding which flavor to scoop during Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day, here’s one that won’t be an option: Vermont Apple Ice Wine sorbet. The special flavor is a one-time deal created specifically for Kathie Lee Gifford (who is lactose intolerant).
"This flavor is a tribute to the morning duo that does it all -- as delicate as Kathie Lee, as sweet and fruity as Hoda. With a tart nature like the pair, themselves, it's sure to become one of their Favorite Things!" a Ben & Jerry's spokesperson told Bites, adding that it was inspired by "a crisp autumn day."
So how did the always outspoken Kathie Lee react?
“It’s a lot more applesauce than wine, I’ll tell you that – but it’s awfully good,” Kathie Lee said.
Free Cone Day runs from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and you can use this opportunity to try some of the new flavors you haven’t been sure about, like the Jimmy Fallon homage, Late Night Snack (which some of our staffers loved, while others thought it was just too busy.)
