I've picked up many bad habits during my time as a blogger, but extreme skepticism on April Fools' Day never seemed to qualify as such until today — months after the holiday has passed. That's because today I finally realized that I've been missing out on a neat iPad app, simply because it was released on April 1.

In hindsight, it's easy to understand why the Onion — a news organization dedicated to satire — would release its official iPad app on a day dedicated to trickery and laughs, but that's neither here nor there.

What matters is that the Onion's app is decently designed, free, and a good time-wasting tool.

To be clear: The app doesn't really differ too much from most magazine or news apps. It has sections for videos, images, sports, and the latest news, a snappy interface, and a button to share items via social media services. It's simple, solid, and a great way to browse through the latest hilarious Onion items.

The Onion's official app is free as a bird and available in the Apple App Store.
