Heart Truth 2013 fashion show

Crimson-clad celebrities took to the runway Feb. 6 for the Red Dress Collection 2013 Fashion Show by the Heart Truth awareness campaign. Take a look at how the stars, including TODAY’s own Savannah Guthrie, rocked bold red designer frocks to promote women's heart disease prevention.

Heart disease awareness is a cause close to Savannah Guthrie’s heart: Her father died of a heart attack when she was just a teenager.

“This is an issue that’s important for women as it is for men,” she said, adding that events like the Heart Truth show help get the message out. “And the fact that we get to wrap it up in this positive event and you get to dress up and wear a red dress and have a bit of glamour is just the icing on the cake.”

Savannah wasn’t nervous at all her runway debut – in fact, she was so excited and confident that she didn’t even prepare for her catwalk performance. “Practice walking?!” she exclaimed. “I walk every day!”

“I think it’s beautiful, and I love the color – but I mostly love the back” said TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie of her elegant, bow-accented Carolina Herrera gown.

Actress Brenda Strong was an image of retro glamour in a sexy, fluid dress by Marc Bouwer.

Talk show host Wendy Williams wore an elegant, custom Kamali Kulture gown by designer Norma Kamali.

Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner wears a sophisticated dress by Badgley Mischka.

“I love it,” said Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin of her Reem Acra dress, paired with Christian Louboutin heels. “When I first tried it on, I felt like I was trying on a wedding dress.”

How did the gymnast prepare for her runway debut? “By sitting in my calculus class!” said the athlete, who is now a full-time NYU student.

Olympic snowboarder Torah Bright’s favorite part of her dress? “That it’s by Nicole Miller!” she said.

Work it: Actress Roselyn Sanchez, in Tadashi Shoji, was all smiles on the runway.

Actress Minka Kelly, wearing an elegant dress by Oscar de la Renta, said her music of choice for getting ready was, of course, Beyonce.

Jillian Michaels, far from her sporty attire, looks chic in Cushnie et Ochs, a fashion-forward favorite of first lady Michelle Obama.

Sibling rivalry? Not for Kendall and Kylie Jenner, both in Badgley Mischka. The celebrity sisters ended their catwalk by holding hands.

“I think I’m going to fall over,” joked a nervous Kelly Osbourne, in Zac Posen, before the start of the show. But the E! host was a natural, going so far as to flash the rock ‘n‘ roll “devil horns” hand gesture at the end of her runway strut.

Toni Braxton loved her sexy Herve L. Leroux dress because it felt like “built-in Spanx,” the singer joked. “This is lovely.”

Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas, in Pamella Roland, shared her smart and simple tips for a heart-healthy lifestyle: “Eat protein, stay active and be healthy.”
