Although Patriots quarterback Tom Brady seems more the go-to man for football advice, not relationship advice (just ask Bridget Moynahan), Brady has reached out to Jessica Simpson’s new man, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, to warn him about bringing his girl to games.
“After that debacle of a game with Jessica being flashed on the screens during every play, Tom told Tony to put a stop to allowing Jess to come to games. Think about it: How often do you see Gisele [Bundchen] cheering Tom on?” said a friend of Brady’s.
Simpson isn’t just going to games, she even accompanied Romo to his weekly radio gig, “Inside the Huddle,” on Dec. 26. “Clearly subtle has never been a part of Jessica’s personality,” said one longtime friend of Simpson’s.
Brady and Gisele have been dating for nearly a year, and according to a friend, even if the Patriots make the Super Bowl, “Gisele will likely know enough to keep away. Unlike Jessica, she realizes football is more than just a game, it’s his career.”
High hopes for another ‘Harry Potter’J.K. Rowling is dropping some heavy hints that the “Harry Potter” series might not be finished, as originally thought. Rowling told Time Magazine she has had “weak moments” when she has said “Yeah, all right” to an eighth book.
That said, if there’s an eighth installment, don’t count on Harry being the central character in the book. “If — and it’s a big if — I ever write an eighth book, I doubt that Harry would be the central character. I feel I've already told his story,” she said.
Rowling went on to tell the mag that if there’s another book, it won’t be written anytime soon. “But these are big ifs. Let’s give it 10 years,” Rowling said.
New Year’s Eve with the A-listers
If you’re hoping to rub elbows with an A-lister (or in some cases, B- or C-lister) this New Year’s Eve, your best bet will be to head to Miami, New York City or Las Vegas.
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz will ring in ’08 in similar fashion to how they spent ’07: connected at the hip, but at Shore Club in Miami. Also in Miami: Mandy Moore and Chace Crawford at The Raleigh Hotel; Jennifer Hudson at Setai; and Shannon Elizabeth at the Sagamore Hotel, if she can find a room in the sold-out city. If you’ve got a place for her to crash, give her a ring.
After Ryan Seacrest counts down to midnight from Times Square, he’ll be heading to Tenjune, but most celebs will be eschewing the Big Apple for the warmer climes of Las Vegas. There, you’ll find Paris Hilton changing her partying ways at Luxor’s hot spot LAX with her sis Nicky; Mariah Carey will headline a party at Tao, and it looks like Britney Spears has got the kids for New Year’s because their dad, Kevin Federline, is set to spend his night at Tangerine.
Box office wrongnessI wasn’t just wrong this weekend, I was really wrong. Last week’s No. 1, Nicholas Cage’s “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” remained in the premiere spot this weekend with a domestic gross of more than $35 million, which brings its two-week total to slightly more than $124 million. The Nos. 2 and 3 spots were both nabbed by films in their third week in theaters: “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and “I Am Legend.”
My pick, “Alien vs. Predator: Requiem,” was No. 1 among films that opened this weekend, but ranked sixth overall with a $10 million take. Oh well. Better luck in 2008. Happy new year!
