Vice President Joe Biden had what could have been a boring task Thursday: Appear for photo-ops with elected Senate members for a mock swearing-in. But the exuberant VP doesn't know from boring, and instead turned the whole thing into a party. 

The endless stream of jokes — mostly aimed at people's moms — came under his breath, as he told Sen. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota that she was "gonna be frisked," and addressed a fit-looking relative of South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, saying "if you need any help on your pecs, man, give me a call." 

The real star of the event was Rider, the baby of Senator Chris Murphy. Rider didn't seem so into this whole swearing-in thing at first ("No!" he yelled, swatting away the vice president's hand), but he came around. Watch the Biden charm at work below.
