Katniss returns! New trailer reveals 3 great 'Mockingjay' moments

Thus far, "Hunger Games" fans have learned two things from the first teaser trailers released ahead of "Mockingjay Part 1," the first of two films that will wrap up the franchise: That the Capitol really loves the color white, and that President Snow has made Peeta his (literal) right-hand man. But in a new trailer that was slowly unveiled over the weekend (first in Best Buy stores, then at Comic

Thus far, "Hunger Games" fans have learned two things from the first teaser trailers released ahead of "Mockingjay Part 1," the first of two films that will wrap up the franchise: That the Capitol really loves the color white, and that President Snow has made Peeta his (literal) right-hand man

But in a new trailer that was slowly unveiled over the weekend (first in Best Buy stores, then at Comic-Con and finally on the web, as Forbes noted), fans of the dystopic series get a look at actual film footage — and the return of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence)!

Here's three other key things we discovered from the just-over-one-minute trailer, called "Our Leader the Mockingjay" on the film's official YouTube page:

The gang's all here
Of course there's Katniss, who is seen walking anxiously through a darkened roomful of rebellious refugees, but we also see her childhood sweetheart Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Cressida (Natalie Dormer of "Game of Thrones" showing the reason she had to shave half of her head) and Snow (Donald Sutherland) — plus series newcomer Julianne Moore as Alma Coin, the president of District 13.

Bad days are a-comin'
The industrial, militaristic look of the trailer stands in stark contrast to the flash and show of the two previous films (at least when they were leading up to the Games themselves). By banning any use of the Mockingjay symbol (shown carved like a crop circle into the ground) and sending his troops to tamp down any signs of rebellion, Snow shows he's not going down without a fight.

Philip Seymour Hoffman can break your heart
Just by being in the trailer itself and providing some key narration, the late great Hoffman provides serious gravitas to the story, which is getting darker and darker. Also, while we only get a quick look at his Plutarch Heavensbee, he's got an earnest, youthful glow to his face that stands in stark contrast to his usual unshaven regular-guy roles.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" arrives in theaters on Nov. 21; the last film in the series, "Part 2" won't be around until Nov. 20, 2015.
