There's been much debate over whether the intro to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" was ripped from Spirit's "Taurus," but there's one person who may have some trouble weighing in.
TODAY's Tamron Hall admitted Tuesday that she's never heard the Led Zeppelin classic.
A lawyer representing deceased Spirit guitarist Randy California is claiming that Led Zeppelin stole the infamous intro to "Stairway to Heaven" and wants to prevent the release of the "Led Zeppelin IV" reissue when the time comes.
But during her Orange Room segment on the story, Tamron admitted, "I had never heard 'Stairway to Heaven' until this morning!"
The viewers immediately pounced, joking with Tamron about missing out on the '70s classic.
But some viewers came to Tamron's aid, saying they hadn't heard the song either.
However, when it came to the lawsuit, the main question on everyone's mind seems to be: why now?
"Way to get on that!" Savannah joked of the 40-year gap between the lawsuit and the release of "Stairway to Heaven".
Many viewers mirrored Savannah's sentiment.
Spirit's attorney says the primary reason for the delay was that California's family had been unable to pay for an attorney until now.
